ABOUT

Dr. Matthew Harikian obtained his DMA in 2024 from the USC Thornton School of Music in Collaborative Piano Performance with an academic emphasis in Music Theory and elective studies in Instrumental Conducting and Organ Performance. In 2025-26, his solo piano show, Memories of Hyrule, has sold thousands of tickets on a tour spanning 24 states across the US. In addition to maintaining his private studio, Matthew frequently concertizes with other instrumentalists and vocalists throughout the Central Valley, teaches at Clovis Community College, and serves as piano faculty for FOOSA (the Fresno Summer Orchestra Academy).

Matthew’s piano studio is based in northern Fresno (93720) and comprises students of all ages and abilities, from those just beginning their musical journey to others preparing for music conservatory training. By basing his teaching on a strong foundation in Western Classical music, Matthew provides a well-rounded education that equally emphasizes reading, playing by ear, and developing a rich understanding of music theory. As a result, his students not only learn to perform the many musical styles throughout the keyboard’s history but also develop skills suited for playing as a worship pianist, improvising in a jazz idiom, or learning pop music by ear. Students perform in twice-a-year studio recitals and are welcome and encouraged to participate in all MTAC events.
